What we collect
Alerts are closed and date reports are closed. The public site does not collect email addresses or other signup details. Nothing typed into those pages is saved. The lists below describe what a future signup would hold if those tools open. They are not collected now.
Alert signup, if you choose it:
- Email address
- An optional postcode or area
- An optional deadline date
- Confirmation that you are 18 or over
- The time you gave consent, and the consent wording
We do not ask for a partner’s name, gender, or the type of relationship.
Booking report, if you choose it:
- Council
- The date you booked
- The ceremony date
- Your email, so we can confirm the report before we keep it
Reports are for moderation. They are not published. A postcode you type into search is sent to postcodes.io to calculate distance. We do not store that search.
Why, and the lawful basis
The lawful basis is consent. Alerts are service messages about statutory ceremony dates near the place you named. They are not marketing. You can withdraw consent with the unsubscribe link.
An alert is not active until you confirm it. A date report is not kept for moderation until you confirm that email either. Both confirmation steps are links on the site for now, because no email provider is connected and the message is not sent. Alerts are free. There is no paid alert.
How long we keep it
Alert records are deleted 12 months after signup. If you unsubscribe, the signup is deleted then. Your email is kept on a suppression list so a later mistake does not email you again. A new signup that you confirm is a new consent and removes that suppression.
Date reports are deleted 12 months after you send them. Confirming the email does not publish them. They are not shown on the public site.
Your rights
You can ask to:
- see the information we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- restrict how it is used
- withdraw consent, which you can also do with unsubscribe once alerts are open
- object to processing, and ask for a portable copy, where the law gives you that right
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Processors
- Vercel, Inc. hosts the site. Hosting is covered by Vercel’s data processing addendum. Where technical logs are processed outside the UK, that addendum uses the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and standard contractual clauses.
- postcodes.io receives the postcode or place name you type into search, so we can estimate distance. We do not send an email address. We do not store the search.
- Email provider — none. No confirmation email is sent.
- Payments — none. This site does not take payment.
- Analytics and advertising — none.
Cookies
We do not use non-essential cookies or analytics. Only cookies needed to run the site may be set, for example by the host to deliver the page. We do not use advertising cookies.
Children
Alerts are closed, so the site does not ask for an age confirmation. If alerts open later, signup will be limited to people who confirm they are 18 or over.
